SunFusion Energy Systems Inc. Pioneers Solutions for California’s Evolving Solar Landscape
SunFusion Energy Systems Inc. launched a power control feature in April 2019, enabling customers to expand their solar and storage systems without necessitating a shift to the NEM 1.0 or NEM 2.0 billing system. Net Energy Metering (NEM), the billing structure facilitating the export of surplus solar production to the grid in return for bill credits, is well-known to rooftop solar and home battery customers in California. The augmentation of solar PV exports became financially unviable post the transition to NEM 1.0, as the introduction of Time-of-Use (TOU) pricing made energy export during peak consumption hours impractical, ultimately leading to a drastic reduction in payments for new solar PV exports under the NEM 3.0 structure.
Customers who had installed their systems before April 15, 2023, falling under NEM 1.0 or NEM 2.0, were unable to modify or upgrade their systems without being compelled to switch to the less favorable NEM 3.0 billing methodology. SunFusion Energy Systems Inc., an inverter and energy storage provider, has proposed solutions that enable NEM 1.0 and 2.0 customers to expand their systems without triggering a transition.
By employing SunFusion power control systems, legacy NEM customers can enhance their solar arrays, thereby retaining the customer-friendly and lucrative nature of the NEM 1.0 and NEM 2.0 rate structures. Walter Ellard, the CEO of SunFusion Energy Systems Inc., highlighted the significance of these new guidelines and underlying technology in supporting their role as long-term energy advisors for installers and consumers.
Stressing the need to offer solutions that maximize value regardless of the prevailing policy, Walter Ellard, CEO/CTO at SunFusion Energy Systems Inc, expressed the company's commitment to providing homeowners in the US with solutions designed to optimize solar and battery capabilities under the new California solar regulations.
